Medium: Azulejos Tile Painting and Digital Art
“I Qualified as a Textile Designer 39 years ago. I enjoyed a fulfilling career as Marketing and Design manager for Sheraton Linen SA and later I was an Interior Designer and Project Manager in the UK and Portugal. My love of gardens and nature led me to complete a course in Permaculture/sustainable living. Over the years, I have continued painting, doing creative art, ceramics, photography and digital art.
Inspired by the Historical Buildings, Architecture and the cultural importance of Azulejos Tiles in Portugal; I returned to my design and creative art roots, and now hold workshops on painting Azulejos tiles. I feel blessed to live here and passionate about sharing the history and method of painting them.
Presently I am not selling my tiles, guests paint their own in my workshops. I have the opportunity to share larger projects with another ceramic artist. I was commissioned to paint replacement damaged, swimming pool tiles. I don’t usually deal in quantity, my forte lies in my workshops. My tile painting workshop has been given as “A Gift” to friends and family. It’s ideal for any occasion and event: Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Birthdays etc. Organisations have successfully held team-building workshops with me, and said they really enjoyed the experience.
I hold morning workshops in Estoi, which is 15 minutes North of Faro. Duration 2.5hrs includes 2 tiles and materials, tea/coffee. Thereafter tiles need to be fired. This can take 5-7 days. Booking essential. Max 6 people. Minimum age 10 years. Time: 10.00am – 12.30pm. 1st Floor location, regretfully no wheelchair access. Free parking next to workshop.”
