Acrylic Interior and Exterior murals
I was born in South Africa and lived there for 46years. I’m a qualified educator and got my degree in Early Childhood Development: Foundation Phase. My favourite part of the day was doing art with my learners. My only rule being, “There are no mistakes in art, only new avenues”. I’ve always had a love for creating, but never the time. My family and I moved to Portugal in January 2019. I now have the opportunity, and time, to take up my passion for creating. I find daily inspiration in our new surroundings. Some may say I’m a bit all over the place, and I suppose this is what keeps me inspired. It’s not in my character to sit still, and I find I’m most relaxed when I’m creating. I paint with acrylics on canvas, create mini village houses from recycable materials, upcycle furniture and recently took to murals.
I’m in awe at my new surroundings and find such enjoyment and fulfillment in the pieces that make it unique. There’s something that makes me feel at home in the washing that blows dry in the wind, how time seems to have stood still in the architecture, yet we move forward everyday.
I now get to work on large “canvases” (wall space) turning a mundane area into a focal point. Each mural being a unique and personal piece. When 1st consulting with a client the basic outline is given to work with. Each commission incorporating something personal whether it be a view from a holiday home, a tribute to a loved one or a much loved pet being incorporated.
The inspiration and satisfaction comes from the clients reaction when the mural has been completed. The feedback of hearing “This is more than I expected” or receiving a call to do an extension is the motivation and inspiration for the next mural.
Samantha accepts commissions and can be contacted via Facebook pm, email or telephone to discuss theme/ costing.
Murals have been painted in private residences, but viewings can be arranged.
