Collection: Matt Clark
Matt has always been interested in photography but then started painting in 2005. He opened a Gallery in Cheddar in 2007 to promote “The Beauty of God’s Creation” where he sold his photographs of the local area. He began running painting holidays in 2008 in the UK and then ran them in Portugal in 2014 when Matt and his wife Gill began spending a few months of the year in The Algarve. He has painted from time to time whilst running the painting holiday business.
Matt has always enjoyed landscapes and nature and concluded that if he couldn’t get outside in the landscape due to lockdown in 2020 he would bring the outside in and began painting more regularly.
He loves painting coastal scenes, seascapes, buildings/townscapes and landscapes. He is captivated by waves and can watch them for hours. He loves painting them and through his paintings wants to demonstrate their awesomeness and power.
He has always loved the Algarve since he first came here and has always been struck by the amazing light and vibrant colours. He loves painting mainly in oils as the richness of colour achievable from them shows the light and colour of the Algarve so well.
