Collection: Frans Bresser

My name is Frans Bresser.

I was born in 1950 in Amsterdam / Holland. I studied pedagogy and after leaving university I worked as a teacher in several primary schools in Holland.

Today I live with my wife for a great part of the year in our apartment in Arrifana (Aljezur Municipality), a beautiful village on the west coast of the Algarve.

Already during my student days, but also as a teacher, I have always painted. I have had lessons from various local artists. Initially I worked with watercolours, but nowadays I use acrylic paints and for

special effects I use sometimes paper with glue, metallic paint, reflex paint and

glitters.

There are many topics that inspires me, like landscapes, the sea, the coastline but also people in action, such as surfers, dancers, musicians. In many of my artworks I try to bend reality, like two dancers on a surfboard at sea or Jesus as a clown in a circus.

If you are interested in my work, you are welcome in my studio in Arrifana. The route via the N120 towards Aljezur goes through a beautiful area. But preferably after securing an appointment by email, because I'm not open all day.

I am also available for commissions.
