Anina von Winterfeld

I am a German mixed media artist, born 1960.Since 1998 I have been living abroad with my husband and daughter in Norway, Oman\Middle East, Borneo\Malaysia , Kuwait and found now my residence in Germany and Portugal.

Besides working for many years internationally as a Primary school /Art teacher and tour guide I always organized my own Art Studio. I had the opportunity to join numerous solo and group exhibitions in the above countries.

My paintings are mostly in private collections all over the world.

My technique:

Working Process

I work in an abstract way, a style, where everything is possible and nothing is fixed. I let intuition and the joy of expressions guide me, as well as an innate sense of composition and feel for colors.

Depending on the countries I lived in I got a lot of inspiration from the beauty of natural surfaces like flowing water, sand dunes, and structures of wood, rocks, and pebbles.
On the other hand, urban features like Oriental or Asian cityscapes and man-made objects such as old walls and rusty doors challenge me as well to show in an artistic way the variety and transformation of surfaces under the influence of nature and the “beauty” of decay.
Using acrylic, pigments, self-made modeling pastes, and collage elements, I work in layers to create interesting textures! In addition, I incorporate gold leaves, numbers, symbols, letters, and written fragments from the cultural background I am attached to!

Let’s see where my artistic journey will bring me here in Portugal!
