Welcome to the new Algarve Art website and home of the Algarve Society of Artists.

Our aim is simple – to bring together, encourage, support and promote artists and art of all genres across the Algarve.

Algarve-Art is managed and run by Alyson Sheldrake with help from her husband Dave. They are a married couple that love living and working in the Algarve in Portugal.

Alyson Sheldrake

Alyson is a professional artist, painting in acrylics and specialising in her own modern ‘New Wave’ style paintings, and her paintings are in private collections all over the world. She is available for commissions, and especially loves painting Pet Portraits. She is also a former Police Officer, and also worked as a Director of Education, and she has a strong interest in design and graphics, and project management. She is also the designer behind a monthly online newsletter that Dave and Alyson send out to a very loyal band of followers of their combined work.

Dave Sheldrake

Dave is a professional photographer based in the Algarve. He specialises in property photography, events and celebrations, private commissions, portraits and commercial work. He is a former Police Sergeant who retired to live in the Algarve hoping for a quiet life, but loves his time working out and about behind a camera lens. If he is not busy working, you will find him out on the West Coast photographing the beautiful beaches at sunset.

Algarve Blog

Dave and Alyson are also the authors of the award-winning and extremely popular ‘Algarve Blog’ about life in the Algarve. With over 110,000 views in 2016, this is fast becoming one of the most popular English-speaking blogs about the Algarve.
